DAY 21
1 Peter 5:6
So, humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.
THOUGHT
I think we have all gone through moments where we felt insignificance rise within us. Maybe you have felt it in a conversation with a group of friends where everyone is talking over you. Maybe you didn't get the promotion you thought you deserved. Or maybe you didn't make the team you worked so hard preparing to make. These are all moments/events that can make us feel like we deserve more or deserve better.
1 Peter 5:6 teaches us to go low, under the mighty power of God. Not the mighty power of people but God. In a world of bigger, better, faster, more, I deserve, I should have, and I want to be important, 1 Peter 5:6 teaches us to humble ourselves to God. God is trustworthy.
ACTION
Quit struggling so hard to be significant. Trust God. You are His workmanship created to produce good works (Ephesians 2:10)
Take time before you leave your house daily to check in on your heart and prepare it to be humble under God.
C.S Lewis said, "Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less." Stop thinking about yourself and do something for someone else.
PRAYER
Jesus, thank you for who you are. I praise your name. Help me today to think less about myself and more about others. God, may my actions lift those up that I encounter today and not tear them down. Help me to remember that I can trust you. Help me to remember that I am your workmanship, created to produce good works. Go before me today! It is in your name, Jesus, that I pray, Amen.
