DAY 34

Matthew 9:36-38

When he saw the crowds he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

THOUGHT

Have you ever heard someone talk about a difficult situation and thought, “They really need Jesus!”? That someone could be a neighbor, a coworker, a cashier at the grocery store, or even a family member. If you’re anything like me, you may find yourself more often than not just praying for them instead of sharing the Gospel or inviting them to church. No wonder Jesus says, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” The things that stop us stem from our fear of rejection, fear of embarrassment, fear of our words not being “just right,” and the list goes on. But “The Lord gave us a spirit not of fear,” and so much is at stake! Our community is full of crowds of people who are “sheep without a shepherd,” and we have the invitation to be God’s “workers” to share the best news ever! Let us have courage as his disciples and get to work!

ACTION

Ask God to give You the courage to invite someone in your closest circle to church. You may be rejected, but don’t give up on them! Keep asking!

Share what you love about HP with someone and intrigue those who don’t know Him yet. You can even share on social media!

PRAYER

Lord, thank You for convicting our hearts to share the good news to the community around us. I ask that You give us the boldness and courage to invite those who do not know You to church. I pray that Highland Park Church would be a place where the “workers” are plentiful. Amen.
