The One

Jennifer has been attending Highland Park church for 6 years and serves faithfully in HP Kids!
"Once upon a time I walked into Highland Park church and the rest was His-Story! I remember looking around seeing hands up worshiping. This wasn’t familiar to me. I didn’t know what it meant to worship, didn’t read the Bible much, and my Christian song list was nonexistent. I hadn’t served. I wasn’t aware of how critical fellowship and community was. In this moment I wrote down a prayer, surrendered it to God, and listened to the worship team sing, 'Come to the Altar' and 'Here Again'. I cried continuously as my soul was being washed clean. I was never the same again.
God answered my prayer and sent a lifeboat to rescue me. He delivered a community of people ready to listen, love, and lead us to safety. They offered Godly counsel, prayed with me, prayed over my sons, and most importantly encouraged me during the process. Discovering my identity followed, which as it turns out, has completely transformed as well.
Highland Park church is where I learned how to read the Bible. Tyler Young saw potential in the very beginning when we walked through the doors, and Sara Davis persisted this vision to fruition. When a door was opened, I walked through it. Today beautiful relationships have been created and nurtured.
God saved me from me. May my story encourage you because God is the ultimate healer and way-maker. He knows best and will put the broken pieces back together. There was a Bible verse revealed to me at the beginning of this journey. It is just as true today as it was then. Jeremiah 29:11 says, 'For know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord; plans to prosper you, not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.' God never wastes a hurt, and He always goes after THE ONE."
