DAY 6
Proverbs 16:3,9
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps”
THOUGHT
Do you ever struggle to get to places? You may be geographically challenged and can only get where you need to go if you type the location into your GPS. You may still get lost while using the GPS app, causing you to spend a reasonable amount of time traveling to a new location, making U-turns, and re-calculating your original route. This is because we focus on arriving at the destination rather than the directions we follow.
This is often the approach we take while making important life decisions. Sometimes, we determine what we want and simply focus on achieving it without figuring out if this is what God is leading us to or not. Moreover, we are human and make mistakes. We have the inclination to focus on the destination and lose sight of God. However, when we surrender our plans to God–whether at the beginning or in the middle–we give Him the power to direct our steps so that we may follow His directions. The journey is an ongoing process, but placing His will as the main priority in our lives will help lead us in the right direction.
ACTION
1. Surrender your plans to God before you take action
2. Allow Him to show you the best map and directions that will align your desired destination with His plans for you
PRAYER
Jesus, thank you because Your plans for us are immeasurably greater than anything we could wish for. I pray that every day, in every decision or action we take, You will lead our thoughts, words, feelings, and actions. We pray that we focus on You and the steps You are leading us to take rather than our need for control. May the desires of our hearts align with Your plans for us. In Jesus name, Amen.
