DAY 28
James 1:2-3
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
THOUGHT
This passage tells us that as we go through trials and hardships that we should, our faith is tested, producing perseverance. Hebrews 11:1 states, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Faith is something that we cannot see with our own eyes; however, it is what we hope for. Faith is not just what we believe in our heads but what we believe in our hearts. Faith produces action. So when we experience trials and challenging things, we get an opportunity to see what our faith is really in. You don’t know what you truly have placed faith in until things get rough. When what we believe in our hearts and minds is tested, we have an opportunity for our faith to grow.
Here is my challenge for you today. God has promised you that He would work everything out for the good of those who love Him. Despite whatever you may be experiencing in this season, hold onto that promise, put your faith in it, and even when it doesn’t look like that promise is coming, remember that it is all an opportunity for your faith to truly grow.
ACTION
Take the time to write down the promise that God has given you. If you don’t know what God has promised you, look to His word and ask God what His promises for you.
Check your fruits. If you believe God is working all things for your good, even in the midst of your circumstances, where’s the evidence? Take the time to examine the fruit of your faith. Have you been joyful lately? Or is there a lack of peace? Do you find yourself more content? Or do you find yourself complaining more? Wherever you are, practice self-awareness by examining your actions to know the health of your faith.
PRAYER
Dear Jesus, thank You for the life that You have given me! I thank You for who You are and everything You’ve done for me. Thank You for Your love! I thank You for every challenge You have allowed me to experience because these challenges are growing me. Holy Spirit, I pray You would remind me of the promises that the Father has given me. I pray for truth and peace to flood my mind and life. Amen.
