DAY 14
1 Timothy 4:12-14
Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given to you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you.
THOUGHT
Have you ever felt like you couldn't take a job position or lead like you would like to because of your age? I know I have. At a young age, I knew that God had gifted me with leadership qualities, but I struggled because people told me that I couldn't be the leader I wanted yet because of how young I was. I remember feeling so frustrated because God had called me to lead, but the world was telling me, "Not yet; maybe when you are older."
I remember stumbling upon 1 Timothy in my time of frustration and being stopped in my tracks. At that moment, God was telling me that I did not have to have the approval of others or a certain job position in order to be the leader he had called me to be. Whether young or old, God will call you to something great if you listen to His voice. As a young adult, I took these verses, focused on them, and learned what other gifts God has given me, living out His call to be a leader, among others.
ACTION
1. Pray for God to speak to you AND make time to listen for His voice - It is so important to talk to God, but it is also essential to sit in silence to give Him a chance to speak to you. This does not mean He will speak every time, but He will when it's time.
2. Find out what your spiritual gifts are - There are so many different ways for you to discover them; one way is to take tests to figure out what they are. Once you discover your spiritual gifts, lean into them and use them to lead how God has called you.
3. Know that your age does not define your success - You can be a young leader as you follow what God has called you to be. If you can't have a "leadership" position, be an example to your peers and become a leader that way.
PRAYER
God, thank You for Your reminder that our age does not define us and that You have called us to be an example of You. I pray for Your guidance over us and that You will help us discover our gifting to glorify You. I love you, Amen!
