DAY 5
Proverbs 19:21
You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail.
THOUGHT
Is anyone else a huge planner? I love to have a plan in place. My calendar is overflowing with plans, reminders, and to-do lists. We make plans for our life. We make plans to go to college, and we choose a major. We plan out our careers and our families. Proverbs 19:21 says we "can make many plans."
I find great comfort in what it says next, "the Lord's purpose will prevail." Prevail means to prove more powerful than opposing forces. This doesn't mean that we won't make mistakes along the way or take a detour on our journey, but the Lord already has a plan and a purpose more powerful than any mistake we make.
The Lord's plan is more powerful than anything the enemy can throw against us. His plan & His purpose will prevail. How can we see God's purpose prevail? We submit to His purpose. We give up control of our own plans and seek God's guidance and wisdom to direct our path. Sometimes, we will not see our plans play out the way we may hope, but when we submit to His purpose, we see that God's plan is better than our own.
ACTION
Take a look at your plans. Pray over your plans to align with God's purpose in your life.
PRAYER
Jesus, thank You for the purpose You have for my life. Thank You for having a greater plan than I could imagine. I submit my plans to You, Lord. Please direct my path according to Your will. In Jesus name, Amen.
