DAY 4

2 Timothy 2:11-13

This is a trustworthy saying: If we die with him, we will also live with him. If we endure hardship, we will reign with him. If we deny him, he will deny us. If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.

THOUGHT

Have you ever received something that you need, but you haven't really worked for it? Well, that happened to me the other day. I was so happy and thanked God for reminding me of my first week in college.
I grew up with very controlling parents. I went to a college about 5 hours from my house. I couldn't go home that first weekend, so I went for a walk on the campus. As I was walking, it hit me: I could do whatever I wanted, and no one would know about it. The scene of freedom was overwhelming. Since I became a Christian several months before, I prayed, "God, in my freedom, I am choosing to serve you." God heard my prayer, and He showed up in a powerful way. I was blessed beyond what I could imagine. The next year, His blessings and protection were powerfully over me.

I wish I could say that all my decisions have been as wise as that one; unfortunately, they have not. I keep talking to God, saying, "God, you know I haven't been that faithful. And God reminded me that it is not about me but about who He is. He is faithful even when we are not. I spent many years of my life beating myself up for the bad decision that I had made. After all, "I should know better." God just reminded me that there is nothing that I can do to make Him love me less. I'm His child, and nothing will change that.

ACTION

Receive God's unfailing love and mercy in your life. Remember, you are His child, and He loves you. You are the one for whom He left the 99. He is madly in love with you.

Forgive yourself for any wrong decision that you have made. Just ask for forgiveness and receive God's mercy and forgiveness.

Extend this love and mercy to others.

PRAYER

Jesus, thanks for being perfect, faithful, and loving. Thank you that you are faithful even when I am not. Help me understand the implications of being your child. And help me to extend your loving kindness to others. Amen.
