The Lead Worship Pastor will provide visionary leadership and pastoral oversight for the worship ministry, aligning music and worship experiences with church mission, values, and weekend gatherings. This role is both spiritual and strategic, requiring someone who leads with a servant’s heart, disciples worship team members, and fosters a culture of authentic, Christ‑centered worship. The Lead Worship Pastor is a key member of the pastoral staff and collaborates closely with the Lead Pastor, Pastor of Weekend Services, and ministry leaders.

Location: Church For The One – Highland Park Campus

Reports To: Pastor of Weekend Services

Serves With: Creative Team (Production, Worship, Content Team)

POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Lead Worship Pastor will provide visionary leadership and pastoral oversight for the worship ministry, aligning music and worship experiences with church mission, values, and weekend gatherings. This role is both spiritual and strategic, requiring someone who leads with a servant’s heart, disciples worship team members, and fosters a culture of authentic, Christ‑centered worship. The Lead Worship Pastor is a key member of the pastoral staff and collaborates closely with the Lead Pastor, Pastor of Weekend Services, and ministry leaders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

Worship Leadership & Planning

​

  • Lead weekly worship services and other church events that are theologically sound, engaging, and reflective of Church For The ONE’s culture and vision.

  • Collaborate with the Lead Pastor, Pastor of Weekend Services and other staff to plan worship sets that support the weekend message and spiritual themes.

  • Curate and arrange music selections that connect with a diverse congregation and promote authentic engagement.

  • Lead rehearsals and prepare the team for worship gatherings including but not limited to, Weekly Sunday Services, Youth Services, Celebrate Recovery Services, Worship and Prayer Events, etc.

Team Development & Pastoral Care

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and spiritually shepherd worship team members (musicians, vocalists, tech volunteers).

  • Foster team unity, discipleship, and personal growth through intentional coaching and pastoral care.• Build relationships that encourage commitment, joy in service, and spiritual maturity.

Creative & Technical Oversight

  • Coordinate with production/AV teams to ensure excellence in sound, lighting, media lyric presentation, and overall worship experience.

  • Oversee stage readiness, equipment maintenance, rehearsals, and technical logistics for services and special events.

  • Advocate for creativity while maintaining alignment with the church’s theology and culture.

Strategic Ministry Contribution

  • Participate in weekly pastoral staff meetings, contributing to church vision, planning, and coordination across ministries.

  • Develop long‑term strategies to grow and expand the worship ministry.

  • Manage worship ministry budget and resources responsibly.

  • Model a Christ‑like lifestyle, growing spiritually and encouraging others to pursue a deeper relationship with God.

  • Champion a worship culture that aligns with Church For The ONE’s mission of reaching the disengaged and helping every person pursue their calling.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Spiritual & Ministry Fit

​

  • A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a passion for worship, discipleship, and ministry leadership.

  • Meets Biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership.

  • A heart for reaching people who are done, doubting, and disengaged from church and faith.

Professional & Technical

​

  • Proven experience leading worship in a growing church environment (preferably contemporary style).

  • Strong musical ability (vocals and proficiency with at least one instrument).

  • Proficient in Planning Center Online platform.

  • Familiarity with worship planning software, sound systems, track systems, media presentation tools, ProPresenter, team scheduling, etc.

Leadership & Interpersonal

​

  • Excellent communicator and collaborator.

  • Ability to recruit, develop, and empower volunteers.

  • Strong organizational, administrative, and team‑building skills.

Education (Preferred but Not Required)

​

  • Degree in Music, Worship Studies, Theology, Ministry Leadership, or related field.
